Resources for Accessing Alternative Text Formats

The below information provides resources for accessing alternative text formats for students with print disabilities (i.e., Braille, Large Print, Digital or Audio).
MISSOURI ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY (MoAT) - provides access to NIMAS formatted file sets provided by publishers and answers general questions about alternative format options and assistive technology applications. To contact MoAT, call 800-647-8557 or e-mail moat1501@att.net.
MISSOURI SCHOOL FOR THE BLIND - manages federal quota funds to purchase hard copy Large Print and Braille texts for students who meet the definition of legally blind. for more information, contact Yvonne Ali at yali@msb.k12.mo.us or 800-622-5672.
BOOKSHARE - provides free alternative text conversions in DAISY, HTML, and BRF formats that allows for text to speech, large print and Braille output options for students of all print disabilities. To learn more about developing a FREE account, go to http://www.bookshare.org/.
